Sitting in the airport, trying to get some last minute changes written for my demo code, I struck up a conversation with the women sitting next to me. We were commiserating over the fact that she couldn’t find any open power outlets for her laptop.
Have you ever notice how business travelers wander the airport searching for power plugs? Eyes down, looking at every corner, peeking under seats or behind support post. Hoping that they will spot a open socket. Forget wireless access points at airports, how about more 120AC plugs!
Back to my story. Here I am jetting to Silicon Valley and the lady next me is worried about getting some work done before her Monday meeting. I assume, wrongly, that she must work in the tech industry. I suppose that is natural - after all most of the people I meet every week are in the software business. So what is her business? It turns out that she is from Columbia South America and she is in the flower importing business. She was here in Seattle talking to flower wholesalers and demonstrating how she can get fresh flowers flown here. Yep. Fresh from the hills of Columbia to the USA.
